Additional Information

Corby Borough Council has a total of 29 Elected Members. The last elections were held in May 2015. Currently there are 24 Labour & 5 Conservatives members. All key chair and vice-chair positions are held by the ruling Labour Group except that of Vice-Chair of Overview and Scrutiny Panel.

The One Corby Policy Committee, chaired by the Leader of the council, is the main finance and general purposes committee. This is scheduled to meet on a monthly basis.

Some years ago, the Council also adopted the roles of ‘Lead Member’ for certain key themes of Council activity; i.e. Housing, Environment, Community and Finance. These are not decision-making roles with Executive powers but are a means of officers being able to consult at Member level. Each Lead Member meets on a regular basis with the appropriate Head of Service.

The Council has a Forward Plan outlining all the decision which it will need to make during the Municipal Year to ensure that all the relevant people are involved right at the start of policy development. This is rolled forward on a monthly basis.

The Council has around 416 full-time equivalent employees.
